Nirmala college for women, settled in Red Fields, Coimbatore is surpass the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Blessed Virgin. The faculty had its humble starting as second grade College within the year 1948. The Founder Msgr. Oubagaraswamy, D.D., the Bishop of Coimbatore, with a missionary zeal and farsighted vision worked to contribute his mite to the tremendous task of developing women's education for fuller development of free Republic of India. He sent a proposal to the university of Madrasrequesting permission for the Coimbatore jurisdiction to begin a university for ladies in Coimbatore. therefore Nirmala College came into being on the primary of July 1948. the faculty has currently emerged collectively of the premier establishments of learning, propagating higher values of education and learning, with hopes and dreams to attain her goal, "Knowledge purifies, Charity Enhances" Examination section started functioning in July 2007 once this faculty was presented autonomous standing. Since then, Rules and laws are framed on the recommendations of Board of Studies and tutorial council keping visible that they need to be student friendly.
