IGNOU Regional Center for organizing University Operations in Karnataka and Goa was set up in 1987 at Bangalore. It was officially introduced by the then Education Minister, Government of Karnataka, Shri Jeevraj Alva on first February, 1989. Till September 1996 it was housed in the annexe of the Directorate of Collegiate Education (Govt. of Karnataka) premises only nearby Vidhana Soudha. It moved to the extensive structure in September, 1996 at No.293, 39th Cross, eighth Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore - 560 070.

Mission

To propel wildernesses of information and advance its dispersal through reasonable open and separation learning frameworks consistently available to all, including until now unreached, from among whom the pioneers and trailblazers of tomorrow will develop, the University will:
