Bishop Abraham Memorial College started its dedicated service to the cause of higher education on 28th June 1965. The College is named after Bishop Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan, the saintly soul who dedicated his life for spreading the values of the Kingdom of God.The college was founded by Late Rev. Dr. T. C. George a selfless true follower of Jesus Christ in memory of his Uncle and Mentor Bishop Abraham Marthoma Metropolitan. He along with six other visionaries belonging to multiple Christian Denominations formed a group called Bishop Abraham Memorial Trust. This entity was registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act on April 28, 1965 as Bishop Abraham Memorial Trust Association who is the owner and Educational Agency of this college.During the years of service, the college has opened and continues to open new vistas of knowledge in our efforts to empower the rural youth through education. We celebrated our silver jubilee in 1990, the then Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Mr. Shivaraj Patil was the chief guest in the valedictory function.Golden Jubilee was celebrated in 2015. Chief Minister Mr. Ommen Chandy inaugurated the jubilee celebrations. As part of the jubilee celebrations, college organized Academic Seminars, Outreach Programmes and a National Science Exhibition. An auditorium large enough to accommodate the entire students and faculty was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee.The college offers one Ph. D. Programme, four Postgraduate Programmes and eight Undergraduate Programmes. Our students should grow in wisdom and virtue to share with others,” You shall know the truth and truth shall make you free”. We diffuse spiritual thoughts that enable them to understand each one ‘s life in the light of supreme reality. We aim to build up sound inter-personal relationship and cater to the multidimensional growth of personality – physical, mental, and spiritual.The college aims to impart world-class education of the highest standard, sound learning, to build up character and instill the highest moral and spiritual values, uphold social justice and to share with others the fullness of life. Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
