Established on the 1st of July 1971, Bhawanipur Hastinapur Bijni (B.H.B) College, as an institution of higher learning at Sarupeta affiliated to Gauhati University, serves the socially and economically backward people of the vast area well. It is ideally located among three revenue mouzas/tehsils, as indicated by the very name of the College, under Bajali Sub-division of Barpeta District. B.H.B. College is the oldest institution in 41, Bhawanipur Legislative Assembly Constituency, a segment of Kokrajhar Parliamentary Constituency of Assam which is a reserved seat for scheduled tribes.

The indomitable will and spirit of the people and their ardent needs of higher education combined with their sheer persistence paid dividends as their dream turned into reality with the establishment of the college. The prime purpose of the establishment of the college was to have an institution at close quarters that could help them have ready access to higher learning. These people, socially and economically backward, could not send their children to far off places for higher education money being the constraint.

At present, the Central Library is in a flourishing state with an intact about 14,000 titles, Textbooks, References, Theses, Encylopedia, Magazines, Journals, and newspapers.

This institution is one the very good institutes and provides with internships to its students. They also provide with various job opportunities to the students including higher studies. They arrange for various activities to enhance the productivity of the students.No, there is no placement of job. but we have a cell of Carrier counseling board.they are helping the students for the future. Like competitive exams. they're doing their job to preparing students for a better future.The college doesn't offer professional courses but only general courses and therefore it is hard to find a very good placement immediately after completing B.Sc. or B.A. However there is a functional placement cell in the college and some companies do come for requirement. No, it doesn't provide any internship.We don't have placement opportunities but have a wider scope to explore our desired jobs. We have had politicians, singers, artists, actors, as the Alma mater of our college. Students from our college have gone for higher studies and achieved great heights in life.There is no placement cell in the college. Most of the students can get placement on the basis of their capabilities and drive.Sometimes some companies come to hire students from our college. Students do internship from different reputed institution throughout the country such as IIT Guwahati.The placements and job opportunities is not that good of our college. The companies which come over are local companies and do not have much exposure for the freshers.
