Margherita College was established in the year 1978 and is located on a sprawling pollution free campus of 26 bighas of land in the North Eastern state of Assam guarded by the majestic Patkai Hills in the Head quarter of Margherita Sub-Division. Margherita lies exactly 567 kms. east of Guwahati. The Patkai hills which form a gateway of India in the North-East are situated in the South-Eastern corner of Assam between 26.300 North latitude and 95.150 East longitude making the natural boundary between Assam and Myanmar. Margherita, the township near Ledo from where the historic Stilwell road connects the North-East region of India with China via Myanmar is the centre of what could be a rich economic zone of South-East Asia.

At the initial stage, it was managed by Dr. P.C. Goswami with N.Das and H.N.Sarma as assistants. It has an intact 2000 titles. At present, the Central Library is in a flourishing state with an intact about 14,000 titles, Textbooks, References, Theses, Encylopedia, Magazines, Journals, and newspapers.

Margherita College Placements

This college offers general degree courses live BSc BBA BCom, hence there is not much seen of on-campus placement but still, you get some job opportunities. But the job opportunities after these courses are not very good.

Placement and recruitment are managed well by the college and calls in decent number of firms to visit for campus placement each year. Average package of around 2.4 lpa can be expected in the campus drive. For better opportunities one have to make efforts on their own. Internships are to be managed on by the students on their own.

Placement and job opportunities in the college are managed through the placement cell. However to be honest no good placement opportunities are there and only few companies or no companies visit for campus placement sometime. Students dwell hard on their own to get jobs. Internships are not mandatory in our course and are not required to be done as a part of the syllabus.

No, our college doesn't offer direct placement in jobs or is directly link with any of job companies but it definitely makes quality products that students can do something in their life. I sometimes feel scared for future but I am now educated enough to stand on my legs.

There was direct admission for 75% scorer, there was no visit of such companies as it is in a small town & there is no company near to it.
