Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti was built up in the year 1967. It was established by Late Shri. Mookka Pillai, an incredible giver whose magnanimous soul incited him to take up the mission and vision of spreading advanced education as right on time as in 1942. 

The extraordinary humanitarian and visionary Late Thiru. Mookka Pillai had considered a respectable thought of giving instruction to the offspring of workers, the discouraged and the poor segment of the provincial society and executed it in the year 1942 by setting up a center College in the country town Puthanampatti. He had placed his substance notwithstanding his well deserved cash to bestow instruction to the provincial mass of the town. During the Pre-freedom days, the organizer had an incredible veneration for Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and consequently the College was named after our country's first Prime Minister. The College was overhauled as High College in the year 1948. His another brainchild called Nehru Basic Training College made ready for advancing an educator in each place of the town in and around Puthanampatti. 

The resolute soul of the unlettered virtuoso did not fulfill himself with College training alone. He conceived one more honorable aim of giving advanced education to the individuals in and around Puthanampatti and his fantasy was acknowledged in 1967 as Nehru Memorial College.
