We the Engineers in remote areas of North-East region of this country should also strive hard in generating and accelerating our will and effort to pace with the same speed as the rest of the world. Though we are seeing that we are not lacking behind and many engineers passing Diploma & Degree from N-E region are also enlightening in many fields in command in many countries, we should generously strike or trigger in threshold areas in zeal in achieving goal to predetermined magnitude.
To maintain in close proximity with recent trends and advancement of technology, the syllabi of Engineering courses needs to be reviewed and revised periodically. Diploma label education as in Silchar Polytechnic like others in this state of Assam always maintain the effort for revision of syllabi accordingly with a vision to inculcate the recent and modern state-of-art technology so that we do not lag behind others.
In Technical Education we should emphasis in all areas in general and in academic field in particular very honestly, sincerely, with full dedication and that we should feel proud to be associated with such an education field that we are producing Engineers to built a nation.
The process that needs to be followed by the students is mentioned below :-
Admission test will be held in all the Polytechnics of Assam on the subject Science and Mathematics on the date and time as notified by the DTE. There will be one question paper of Science and Mathematics of 100 marks of 2hours duration. The question paper will be H.S.L.C. level. For the Science paper Biology portion of the syllabus in not included.
Admission Test for Modern Office Management Diploma Course will be held only at Girls Polytechnic Guwahati in the subjects English and General Knowledge on the date and time as notified by DTE Assam.
To be eligible for admission into Diploma courses a candidate must fulfill the following conditions :-
Must appear and qualify in the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) for admission in to Diploma Courses offered by State Council for Technical Education, Assam for the concerned academic session as notified by the DTE, Assam.
Be an Indian Citizen and Permanent resident of Assam.
For admission in to Diploma Courses the candidate must pass the H.S.L.C or its equivalent examination with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subject with
40% marks in Mathematics and Science for General candidates.
35% marks in Mathematics and Science for SC candidates.
33% marks in Mathematics and Science for ST candidates.
Age Limit : For all the courses the upper age limit is 20 years on the first day of August of the year of Admission. In case of Modern Office Management course, the upper age limit is 22 years on the 1st day of August of the year of Admission. The upper age limit is relax able by three years in case of candidates belonging to S.C & S.T community. There is no upper age limit for the POST Diploma Courses.
Medical Standard : A candidate should be physically fit and mentally sound should possess the minimum physical standard.
Residential Eligibility : Candidates must be an Indian Citizen and Permanent resident of Assam.
Hostel
Silchar Polytechnic has hostels that are separated into blocks for the boys and girls on the campus. Silchar Polytechnic hostel facilities have well-furnished rooms equipped with basic facilities.
Medical/Hospital
Silchar Polytechnic facilities include the medical room. The medical room is equipped with all necessary medical equipment. A doctor is available 24 hours and ambulances are also present for any emergencies.
Gym
The college has a gym facility. On campus Gymnasium equipped with the most modern fitness machines provide a perfect opportunity for both girls and boys for their regular workouts and enhance their fitness level.

Silchar Polytechnic library has a Large number of books, journals, and publications. There are separate sections that are present in the library like the reference section, circulation section, audio-visual section, digital library section, etc.

Silchar Polytechnic facilities include indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Indoor games like carrom, chess, table tennis, pool, etc are made available to the students. Outdoor sports facilities are also available for games like cricket, tennis, basketball, volleyball and many more.
