College of Teacher Education, Andhra Mahila Sabha owes its origin to the dedicated efforts and dynamic leadership of Padma Vibhushan Dr.(Mrs.) Durgabai Deshmukh, the Founder President of AMS, the first voluntary organization in India that pioneered the cause of women and their empowerment. She established the college in 1971 by receiving permission from Government of Andhra Pradesh and got it affiliated to Osmania University. In 1997, the college was upgraded as a College of Teacher Education (CTE), a unique privilege conferred on a private aided college of education. As a CTE, the responsibility of the college was enhanced; apart from conducting pre-service teacher training programmes to primary and secondary level teachers, its onus included the conduct of orientation programmes, content enrichment programmes, workshops, seminars and research projects on thrust areas of content transaction. As of now the college offers four teacher education programmes from Early Childhood to Post Graduate level viz. B.Ed., M.Ed., B.Ed.Spl.Edn.(H.I) and P. G. Dip in Early Childhood Education (ECE). The college is a study centre for Dr. B.R. Ambedhkar Open University for conducting B.Ed. (Distance Mode) teacher training programme for Government and Private primary teachers and also Study Centre for NIOS Diploma in Elementary Education (Training for un-trained teachers). The College offers Early Childhood Care and Education three months Certificate Course and add on Courses i.e. Proficiency in English and Human Rights Education. The College provides consultancy for primary and secondary teachers of private schools as and when they approach the institution. It conducts job melas, offers placement services to the pre-service students and alumni. A class above the other Colleges of Education in the State that this college can flaunt off without any qualms is that of creating a bench mark in maintaining the high quality of education relevant to the needs of the society and in its uniqueness of having created certain mile stones that deserve a brief mention hereunder.

Girls Hostel : The College hostel has three floors and accommodation is provided to college students Study Center in-service teachers, teachers who participate in training programs. Major repairs are undertaken from time to time to keep it in good condition. A massive water cooler is installed in the hostel to provide safe and cool drinking water to the hostlers. The hostel a recreation room with a television and indoor games. Daily newspapers are provided to students to keep abreast of the Socio, political developments. There is also a landline provision to help them communicate with their near and dear. At times when the hostlers fall sick, they are given medical aid by Dr.Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital.
Medical/Hospital : The College Health Center services are available in the hostel to meet the health needs of the students. Durgabai Deshmukh Multispeciality Hospital located a km away from the campus offers medical services whenever the need arises. First Aid service is 196 available in the College and medicines are regularly checked and replaced. There is a panel of doctors who visit the College on call to attend in case of emergency
Gym : The college has a Gym facility for the students.
Library : The college is proud of its digitized library which has more than 10,000 books on a range of subjects.
Sports : The College has equipment for outdoor games like tennikoit, shuttle, shot put, discus throw, skipping, etc. Indoor games like carroms, chess, Chinese-checkers, etc. The campus playground of the College is used for conducting sports and games. The playground of C.Ramchand Girls High School within the campus is also used for conducting sports and games competitions. There is no swimming pool or gymnasium facilities in the College, but students have the option to use the swimming pool of O.U Campus which is close to the College.
I.T Infrastructure : The college has a computer lab with 45 systems and internet, printers, UPS, Scanners, LAN, CD Writer, etc. To ensure optimum use of computer lab, a timetable of all Programs is meticulously planned so that lab is available to all students. Staff and students use the computers, interactive board, Public Address System, LCD (available in seminar hall & classrooms) during seminars & regular classroom instruction.
Cafeteria : The College canteen is located on the campus to satisfy the needs of the entire sister institutions on the campus. Food is also supplied by the caterer
Auditorium : The College has a spacious seminar hall, Conference Room, Lecture Hall, and well-equipped laboratories
Alumni Associations : The College has an Alumni Association which was registered on 18-12-2006. It has framed a charter of duties for office-bearers of the association. Alumni organize periodical meetings to share their experiences and exchange of ideas. Most of the Alumni of the institution are working in different institutions across the twin cities in the state, outside the state and country. They are invited for guest lectures, workshops, orientation programs. They volunteer to serve the institution to its best potential.
Wifi : The institute has Wi-Fi connectivity which is very much useful for the administrative work, faculty, and students in the process of learning
Laboratories : The College has Science Lab: The fully equipped science laboratory acts as a resource unit for the students. Audiology Lab: Used by the students of B. Ed.Spl Edn. (H.I) course. It is used to test the degree of hearing impairment. Language Lab: A fully equipped language lab facility is used to develop the linguistic skills of the students. Social Studies Lab: It includes many models and teaching aids related to the subject
