Maharaja Madakarinayaka First Grade College has been established under the able leadership and guidance of founder Sri. D Borappaji in the historically rich but economically and socially backward chitradurga region in 1984. Initially the college was affiliated to Mysore University then to kuvempu university. Now it is affiliated to Davangere University. It was started with the aspiration of providing educational opportunities to SCs’, STs’OBCs’ and other catagories for their overall development. As a result of this, the beneficiaries of this college have occupied several prestigious social positions.It has paved a way for their vertical mobility. By imparting qualitative education and value education, the college has served the society for its upliftment.At this juncture we are pleased to say that our college has obtained 2F& 12B status from the UGC. The college has given importance not only to curricular aspects but also to co-curricular and extra curricular activities. Besides these, the college has 9 Ph.D degree holding and 7 M.Phil degree holding teaching staff which is, infact, a feather in the academic cap of the Maharaja Madakarinayaka First Grade College. In order to skill the students with regard to communication skills in English, the college has established a language lab. This language lab caters to the needs of students who aspire to speak in English fluently and efficiently.The college offers B.A and B.com courses and these courses are taught by highely experienced and seasoned teachers. To provide novelty and academic activism to the subjects being taught in the college,special guest lectures are also being conducted.
