Dum Dum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya, a Degree faculty was established on fifth August, 1968 beneath the name of Dum Dum Motijheel Evening faculty of Commerce with affiliation from the Metropolis University.
This establishment saw its dawn through the hardworking efforts of such revered educationists as Dr. B. B. Dutta, Sri B. K. Sen, Sri Sukumar Bhattacharya, Sri Santi Dasgupta and Sri Kumares Basu, the founder Principal.
To start with, it had been supported with the modest aim of providing facilities for finding out Commerce Degree Course, General and Honours beneath metropolis University and to cater to the wants of the operating students through evening categories. after, beneath native demand and pressure, a full-fledged day Commerce faculty came into being, and also the evening shift was done away with. so the faculty was reborn into each day faculty in 1974 and consequently, it came to be referred to as Dum Dum Motijheel faculty of Commerce.
Further, to face the challenges of globalization within the field of upper education and to suit the rising want of the society at native, regional and national level, the organisation of the faculty resolved to convert this faculty of Commerce into a multi-faculty Degree faculty. the faculty consequently was re-christened Dum Dum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya in 2004 and also the necessary approval from the University of the metropolis for introduction of Arts and Science streams was received. B.A./B.Sc. courses were introduced w.e.f. 2006-07. currently, the faculty is connected to the state State University, Barasat, North twenty-four Parganas. at this time we provide B.Com (Hons) in selling in commerce stream. within the B Sc. class we provide geographics (Hons) and additionally Journalism (Hons) to B.A. students. the faculty has a provision of giving admission to students fascinated by studying M.A. in Bengali. English, History and Education within the distance mode approved bt Kalyani University.
