The University came into operation formally with the belief of the workplace of the primary decision maker on January fifteen, 2001 as a sequel to the promulgation of MAKAUT, W.B. [Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West geographic area] at one time referred to as WBUT (West Bengal University of Technology) ACT, 2001, below province Act XV of 2000 elapsed the province law-makers. The University started its educational programme, from Gregorian calendar month sixteen, 2001 following a Notification from the Department of upper Education; Government of province dated Gregorian calendar month fifteen, 2001 through the affiliation of Engineering and Management establishments/schools and has entered the eighth year of its functioning.
