Agarkar Research Institute (ARI) is an independent institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. It was established in 1946 as Maharashtra Scientific Cultivation Society (MACS) and registered under the Societies Registration Act. 1850. Later, as research activities began to expand, the MACS Institute acquired its own identity. The institute was renamed ARI in 1992 in honor of its founding director, the late Professor S. P. Agarkar. ARI's current research and development activities span all areas of life sciences, spanning six different themes: biodiversity and paleontology, bioenergy, bioprospecting, developmental biology, genetics and plant breeding, and nanobioscience. Library and Electronic Library: In order to provide students with the right learning materials at the right time, our institute has a library with an area of ??154.23 square meters. It houses more than 6,027 books, 115 e-journals, 260 titles, and 20 domestic and international magazines, including 8 types of newspapers.
