Ph.D. (Agroforestry) is a doctoral-level Program.
The full degree course consists of 3 year & its syllabus is divided in 6
semesters. It is a land use management system in which tree or shrub are
grown around or between crops or pastureland. Research on the interplay of people,
agriculture & trees at a range of scales from Eco physiological
interactions between system components through to the landscape level effects,
across both temperate & tropical environments, with a centered on the multipurpose
tree species & farm trees. Agroforestry is a important constituent of the farming
systems that has many potential advantages soil conservation, soil fertility
improvement, carbon sequestration, bio-drainage, nutrient cycling,
micro-climate improvement, biomass productivity enhancement, and bio-energy. Ph.D.
in Agroforestry program is very important & valuable in many fields. Through
this course, students can make their careers in the various zone. It provides study
about the conservation & scientific management of the farm crops,
theoretical & practical aspects of production, forest crops & livestock
for composite goods & services.
Agroforestry, land-use practices that
integrate crop and/or livestock with trees & shrubs to obtain useful
products or services, is gaining recognition as an integral component of the multifunctional
working landscape. While agroforestry has been gaining attention in U.S. &
worldwide, the need for trained professionals in agroforestry also has
been expanding. Agroforestry, as a farming system that integrates crops and/or
livestock with trees & shrubs, has a long history of interdisciplinary
research at the University of Missouri. The course was developed to provide working
professionals with advanced study & experience in agroforestry &
related fields not readily available at other colleges & universities in
U.S. or abroad.
Ph.D. (Agroforestry) Admission Process:
Admission to the Ph.D. program shall be
based on the candidate marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the
respective department or school of a particular university or institute. Those students
who have completed GATT/ M.Phil/JRF Examination in the pertinent subject of apex
bodies as CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DBT will be exempted from Entrance Test. While
giving the exemption, the Departmental Committee of the University may consider
research work/earlier Ph.D./experience done by the candidate. If a candidate
already holds a doctorate degree in the relevant subject from a UGC Approved
University or Institute, he/she may be exempted from the entrance exam &
pre Ph.D. coursework. After clearing both steps the candidate will be
eligible to pay the course fee or registration fee. Only the predetermined number
of students may be admitted to Ph.D. programmer.
