Sri Venkateswara University was founded in 1954 by chief minister Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. It is a state university in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is commonly referred to as S. V. University or SVU. S Govindarajulu Naidu was the first Vice Chanicellor of the university. It is located on the West side of Tirupati, surrounded by the other universities in the city namely Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University. After Lord Venkateswar university is named. Land donated by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is covered by the campus of the univesity. With a score of 3.52 out of 4 it holds a NAAC rating of "A+". After the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 it was the 31st university to be built in India.
