ADMISSIONThe Government Arts College for Women was built up in 1966 with the fundamental goal of giving advanced education to Women of Thanjavur. The College was renamed as 'Kunthavai Naacchyiaar Government Arts College for Women' in memory of the distinguished Sister of Raja Chola on the event of the 1000th commemoration festivity of the Coronation of the Great King of Thanjavur. The choice of the Government of Tamil Nadu has helped the ladies of Thanjavur who are generally custom bound and were reluctant to go even to adjacent places in quest for Higher Education. The College was housed in the Thanjavur Palace premises itself before all else and in 1970 it was moved to its own two storeyed structure in a rambling grounds of 17.5 sections of land. At the point when progressively scholarly projects were presented in the College, there was expanded interest for space and in this manner, more structures were built with liberal awards from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
