National Research Centre for Grapes - NRCFG

The grape cultivators of India were among the first to frame a firm non-political, non-racial and non-religious gathering for sharing the information and for earning specialized and regulatory help for the grape business in all features of grape generation, handling and promoting. Inferable from a few issues looked by grape cultivators regarding grape generation and to get their issues fathomed, the gathering moved toward the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to build up a committed research unit for taking a shot at grapes. Hence after due consideration on the examination needs of grape producers and the grape business and furthermore to address the future difficulties and openings, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research affirmed the foundation of National Research Center for Grapes vide authorization letter No.1 (2)/92-PI&M (Part-III) dated 16 September, 1993. 

The then Director General of ICAR, Dr. R. S. Paroda and Deputy Director General of Horticultural Division, Dr. K. L. Chadha, assumed a significant job in the foundation of the Center. They were capably helped by Dr. S.P. Ghosh, at that point Assistant Director General of Horticultural Division and Dr. S. D. Shikhamany, Head, Division of Fruit Crops, I.I.H.R.,Bangalore, Officer on Special Duty, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore.
