School of Social Work Roshini Nilaya - SSWRN

The School of  Social Work, managed by the Institute of work Mangalore of Karnataka State, was established in 1960 in Mangalore by the Society of Daughters of the Heart of The Virgin, a world Catholic spiritual Society, supported in France in 1790 throughout the French Revolution. it's the pioneer Post-Graduate Centre for welfare work Education in Karnataka, listed as a ‘Minority’ establishment. It believes within the dictum – “Small is Beautiful”. it's set on a six-acre field whereby, besides the faculty, there are service centres like preschool, Family service firm, Family content Centre and CHILDLINE.

Education during this faculty is galvanized by the life and teachings of Jesus. From the gospel, it attracts high ideals of life and repair supported the values of respect, freedom, and equality. It seeks to contribute to the vision of a humane, simply and harmonious society.

The Institute has adopted as its expression, the words of Tagore – “LOVE is created FRUITFUL IN SERVICE”- Serving God by serving humans is that the principle that guides its action. The ambiance of the Institute nurtures a homely atmosphere – a healthy teacher-pupil relationship of respect and understanding supported freedom with responsibility.
